  My name is Ryder Santos, Im from Portland Oregon and I am a digital arts and communications major. I hope to turn that major into a full time career with photography and maybe some journalism. I decided to Dual enroll into LBCC because it saves me a lot of money at OSU. I also chose LBCC because I perform better in smaller class sizes and not big lecture halls. During this class I hope to learn about how to use my photography in a more media sense. weather that is photojournalism, or how to promote my work through media. I am also instructed in journalism and this class is the perfect place for me to understand if this is what I want to do. Outside of school I am super passionate about my photography. It is my goal in life to turn that into my full time job. My whole entire life I have never found a hobby or interest that I was set on pursuing, as a kid I always wanted to be a pro skater or pro snowboarder but after many many painful injuries I decided maybe I should slow down and pick up the camera. After that day I have never regretted it. Each post I make I am proud of myself for making art that I believe is beautiful and I hope other do too.

My number one source of information is TikTok. This is because I am on that site the most. I don't believe most things I see on there and if I do I make sure to fact check on other sites like google. This platform typically isn't trusted but you can usually tell if an account is trustable or not. My second source is instagram. I follow a couple news pages that are trusted. Instagram has a lot less misinformation than TikTok but everything still isn't fully true. My last spot for media is my Mom. Me and her talk a lot about everything and real world problems come up
sometime. I trust what she says because she has been listening to news way longer than I've been around. This is one of my go to's because it is a person to talk to and not a random person on TikTok. I consider these sites somewhat reliable but always make sure to fact check what they are saying because recently it has been a lot of fake news and AI. I am very scared about deepfakes, AI, and false information. Everyone now is very gullible and just because they saw a video they think it's real. On TikTok and instagram and anysitre like that it is important to only listen to verified accounts or if you see that story being pushed on multiple different account. At the end of the day always fact check the media you are seeing and avoid as much misinformation as you can.
